GUIDE TO RESOLUTION

If you are sending a digital file, you need to be aware of the resolution required in our process.

It is, as a general rule, a minimum of 100 pixels per inch.

If you are unfamiliar with resolution, you can reliably use the overall file size as a guide. For nominated picture sizes, we have calculated file sizes needed for jpg files. The jpg format is the standard for digital photographs and is certainly the preferred format for transmission by email.
Take a look at the table below to determine whether your jpg file size is adequate for the size you have in mind for the final product.

Digital cameras generally have settings for photographs for the following purposes:

  • email (not enough resolution for an artistic memento)
  • postcard size (for the smallest artistic mementos only)
  • A4 size (ok for the mid range of artistic memento sizes)
  • Magazine quality prints
